FEMALE STEREOTYPES IN THE NOVEL RAPIJALI BY DEWI LESTARI

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan stereotip tokoh perempuan dalam novel trilogi Rapijali karya Dewi Lestari. Novel yang menjadi bagian dalam trilogi Rapijali karya Dewi Lestari, yakni Rapijali 1: Mencari, Rapijali 2: Menjadi, dan Rapijali 3: Kembali. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ialah kualitatif deskripsi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa stereotip perempuan dalam novel trilogi Rapijali menampilkan stereotip yang bersifat positif dan negatif. Pemberian stereotip terhadap tokoh perempuan dalam novel trilogi Rapijali ditentukan berdasarkan fisik, sifat, atau psikis yang dimiliki oleh tokoh perempuan tersebut. Fisik yang mayoritas dimiliki oleh tokoh perempuan dalam novel trilogi Rapijali, yakni cantik. Sifat yang mayoritas dimiliki oleh tokoh perempuan dalam novel trilogi Rapijali, yakni baik, labil, teliti, dan tegas. Psikis yang mayoritas dimiliki oleh tokoh perempuan dalam novel trilogi Rapijali, yakni kuat mental dan memiliki perasaan yang sensitif.

This study aims to describe the stereotypes of female characters in the novel Rapijali trilogy by Dewi Lestari. The novels that are part of Dewi Lestari's Rapijali trilogy are Rapijali 1: Mencari, Rapijali 2: Menjadi, and Rapijali 3: Kembali. The method used in this study is a qualitative description. The results of this study indicate that the stereotypes of women in the novel Rapijali trilogy display positive and negative stereotypes. The giving of stereotypes to female characters in the novel Rapijali trilogy is determined based on the physique, nature, or psychology possessed by these female characters. The physique that the majority of the female characters in the Rapijali trilogy novels have is beautiful. The characteristics possessed by the majority of female characters in the Rapijali trilogy novels are kind, unstable, conscientious, and firm. The psychic that the majority of the female characters in the Rapijali trilogy possess, is mentally strong and has sensitive feelings.
